Train With England
On Saturday 27th February we are priviledged to have several full England International players and coaches coming to Milton Keynes to train our adults and juniors.
The session for adults is at Woughton Leisure Centre from 11am to 1pm. The junior session follows at 1.30pm to 3pm.
The sessions are free. Please contact Darren if you are interested in taking part.
Korfball in MK will always be fun - we want the standards at the top end to rise though. This is an excellent chance to do that.
Change of Training Tonight
Tonight, we will train at Woughton Leisure Centre from 8:30-10:30pm. We'll be on a small court, but lots of time to get a ton of shots up, and that's something we're going to focus on. We had lots of great attacks yesterday and plenty of lovely shots but very little dropped- they could have been very different games.
Bring drinks and shooting arms. I will bring the Rogues Ball.
The Rogue Hog Is Unveiled
The Rogue Hog- the new mascot and logo of Walton Rogues.
He's short, prickly, and surprisingly angry for such a cute little animal.
Rogues Split the Points against Hatters and Wallabies
Two cracking games yesterday! We put up a good fight against Hatters, but they're very experienced and very athletic and just generally a good side with strong defence and a dangerous attack. We took the lead through a horribly flat shot from me, but we had a great collect in anyway so I feel no shame. After that, they showed their class and beat us fairly comprehensively.
Second game was against Wallabies, who had forfeited as they weren't able to feel a legal side, so we were guaranteed a 15-0 win. But we flew into the game with some brilliant korfball, taking and holding a lead until we were pegged back to 4-4 into half time. Wallabies then scored a lovely goal, but had forgotten about the change of ends, so it was in fact a lovely own goal; I was sad that I wasn't looking. We then scored a further 2 goals (penalties both) to round out a very nice 7-4 win.
Snow! Fun and pretty, but may reduce korf
Status report from a snowy New Year!
Alas, the wonderfully wintry weather has taken its toll on the korfball calendar in Milton Keynes. MK Roos, Wallabies and MKX lost out on their training sessions last week, MK Colossus look at risk for this evening, and all SMKA and OKA league matches this weekend were postponed- meaning disruption for MK Colossus, two MK Bucks sides, and MK City.
Walton Rogues returned to training last week, but a scheduled hall closure has left them without training this week and looking for an alternative venue for next week; they are taking this opportunity to get their affairs in order with an impromptu general meeting.
Hopefully, it'll be back to business as usual (not to make it sound like too much of a chore!) before you know it!
